Shri Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France

H.E. Mr. Jawed Ashraf assumed charge as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of France and Principality of Monaco on July 13, 2020.

A career diplomat, H.E. Mr. Jawed Ashraf joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1991. He served in Frankfurt and Berlin from 1993 to 1999. He thereafter worked at the Americas Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi from 1999 to 2004. He completed a three-year tenure as Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu in 2007. From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Counsellor and the Minister for Political Affairs at the Embassy of India in Washington DC following which he headed the Americas Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi from 2010 to 2012.

H.E. Mr. Jawed Ashraf subsequently served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister‘s Office under former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and then Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. His responsibilities during his tenure at the Prime Minister’s Office included External Affairs, Defence, National Security Council, Atomic Energy and Space. He returned to again serve at the Ministry of External Affairs in January 2016 and was Joint Secretary (Special Projects).

He served as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore from November 2016 to July 2020.

H.E. Mr. Jawed Ashraf studied Economics at St. the Stephen‘s College in New Delhi and Management at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
