ASEAN and India share a vast tropical Indo-Pacific strategic space, abundant with ocean resources and opportunities for maritime connectivity. However, they also face significant challenges in terms of sustainable development, climate change risks, and strategic security concerns. This paper proposes the Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) framework as a new dimension for the ASEAN-India partnership, focusing on capacity and capability building tailored to the unique tropical characteristics of the region.

    The conventional approach of each of the stakeholders pursuing their own UDA* efforts has serious limitations given the highly resource intensive field experimental research initiative required for a long period. Click here for more
